U.S. stocks rise as energy, miners lead

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stocks closed moderately higher Thursday as a rally in resource and energy stocks, supported by earnings and corporate restructurings, helped the market overcome earlier weakness.
