About the Show: Blood Brothers is a musical written by Willy Russell, based loosely on the 1844 novella The Corsican Brothers by Alexandre Dumas, père. The story is a contemporary nature vs. nurture plot, revolving around twins who were separated at birth. The musical debuted in 1983, winning the Olivier Award for Best New Musical. The current West End (London) revival is one of the longest-running musical productions in history, opening in 1988 and still running as of 2011. The musical has been produced with success on tour, on Broadway and elsewhere, and it has developed a cult following.The Broadway production opened in 1993 at the Music Box Theatre and closed in 1995 after 840 performances. It received Tony Award nominations for best musical, best book, best direction, best actress, best actor and best featured actress.
