How Can One Be So Tired

Original music, performed on nylon string guitar with vocals. About a lot of things, political and social.I've done a few covers in my time, and even put some up on youtube, but a while back ( although I didn't entirely stick to it) I decided I wasn't going to concentrate too much on cover songs. Does a novelist write somebody else's book over? I guess some artists make replications of famous works, or at least used to, so I've heard. Do they do it just to finance the art they want to make? I don't know as much about painting, but I would think that the great painters are the ones famous for their own original works of art. Is this not the case? So, why do so many of us (and myself included) spend so much time learning and playing other people's songs? It just makes more sense to, other than to entertain for money at some venue like a bar or something, that we should be making our own songs and using youtube and other sites to get these songs out to as many people as would take the time to listen. I'm going to make an effort to stick to that, and not play other people's songs. I suppose I could sit around learning every note Jimmy Page ( or fill in your favorite instead) played, but I'll leave that up to others who are inclined in that direction. As for myself, the path is clear, and I will pursue my own songwriting as best as I can - as I am always able to do it when I sit down and attempt it.
