On 05 December 2011, during the Global South-South Development Expo, UNDP's Poverty Practice in collaboration with the Special Unit for South-South Cooperation jointly launched a case study on Xacbank of Mongolia. XacBank of Mongolia is known as one of the 'best practices' in microfinance in developing countries. Since XacBank successfully evolved from a non-bank financial institution providing mostly microfinance services, to becoming the fourth largest commercial bank in Mongolia, with over 85 branches serving over 249628 clients. XacBank's mission is "to contribute to the socio-economic development of the country while creating a fair value for its shareholders. XacBank has been consistently introducing innovative products and services such as provision of heavily subsidized loans to 'green' or eco businesses, investments in health and education initiatives, support to women-headed businesses, and the development of micro-finance institutions in countries such as Kyrgyzstan and China
