A TripAdvisorâ„¢ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to New York City, United States by TravelPod blogger Malteaser titled "New York City Day 2" Malteaser's travel blog entry: "Well I woke with really aching feet, sore shoulders but like a warrior or a resilient Collingwood supporter I wanted to head on down to the Financial district. I had a coffee at Herald Square which is as big as a cricket pitch. Just happened to be there when the bells were a ringing. I caught the subway to the (Lower Manhattan) World Trade Centre to check out the damage. It's hard to imagine but the area is huge let alone two buildings plus more crashing down to earth. The rebuild is being critized as taking too long, and way over budget. Not sure with the banking crisis if progress will continue at the pace it is now. Certainly underground (when on the subway) you could see the damage. Anyway, it's a bit surreal walking around the place. I just couldn't imagine what it was like, even if I did see it live at the time on TV. Anyway I left the area and walked towards Hudsons Bay and walked my way to Battery Park. This area and Lower Manhattan is the oldest area of the Island and some of the buildings are magnificent. Actually the architecture in general is amazing, as you can see with most of my photos of buildings. Different eras intermingled with each other.
