Occupy Claremont General Assembly Dec. 4 2011 (1 of 7)
Professor Dana Ward discusses issues of leadership in the movement, and issues with the movement attaching itself to "issues," specifically having a political platform. Occupy is here to point out problems, but not necessarily solutions, especially if that leads to party politics. Student Zach Shpizner brings up the non-partisan issue of cleaning up campaign finance, passing out bars of soap, as suggested by Congresswoman Anna Eshoo. Met with some resistance, but the idea of making our legislators work for us via non-partisan methods was agreed upon. The conversation moved to moving money from large banks to local ones, and the logistics of doing so are debated. The website www.moveyourmoney.info or moveyourmoneyproject.org is brought up. The idea of passing out flyers on how to find local banks and what the risks are being proposed. More to come in video 2.
