This is especially important if the email is from a banking institution like Paypal, or just your local bank like Bank of America. Watch it completely, because I show you how to report this types of emails to the FBI via ic3.gov. It's not advertised much, but its the only place report these types of fraud. I found out about them after I bought a website from a kid and after I sent him money Western Union (btw-very stupid), he stopped answering my emails or online chats. So, instead of complaining online, I did some basic research and found a phone number he used in a very old forum he had signed up for using the emial he was using to communicate with me. (You still following.) When I had called the number I found out it was his mothers phone number, she told me so. After I explained to her, she said she would talk to him. I said, "ok, in the mean time I am going to report this to the local FBI New Jersey." The FBI office in New Jersey directed me to my local office (Portland) which directed me to ic3.gov. I think I got a confirmation report from ic3.gov that I emailed to the kid and he sent me my money back, ($2000) immediately. Probably scarred him.
