TNO College: will the internet make us go green?(interview)

INTERVIEW - Dr. David Langley talks about the impact of social media and crowds on sustainability. Social ICT can make it easier for people to act in a sustainable way without spending a lot of time and energy on trying to change their behavior. This creates a new kind of activism, or as David calls it 'slacktivism', as the internet and social media can enable 'slackers' to become activists without a lot of effort. Bio Dr. David Langley has worked in the telecoms applied research area since 1991 with a focus on understanding the end-users of information and communication technology. He has been at TNO since 2003 where he has lead contract research for a wide variety of organizations in the public, finance and energy sectors. Dr. Langley is an active member of the European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management and has published his work in popular and industry press, such as the Dutch NRC and Product, as well as in authoritative scientific journals. His specializations are innovation management and understanding the market adoption of new products and services.
