In the 12th century there was a revolution in south India, to be precise at Kalyana Kalburgi in Karnataka. It was spearheaded by Bhakti Bhandari Basaveshvara who was a finance minister as well as Prime minister in Bijjala Maharajas asthana. For the first time in the world an attempt was made to build a caste-less and classless society without gender bias! The people who conquered anger and desire ( called as Bhavada beeja or seed)and rededicated to divine society were called 'Sharanas'. These Sharanas both men and women assembled in Anubhava Mantapa (1st parliament of the world) and read the their Vachanas. They wrote more than one and half lakh "Vachanas" which describe both loukik (worldly) and aloukik (paramarthic) ways of life. These Vachanas are in simple clear verses which are like daari deepa (showing the way to good life). Simple, yet melodious tune has been set by Smt Indu Vishwanath, She along with Smt.Ratnamala Prakash have given the soulful rendition. This DVD is named as "Vachanaamrutha Varshini" and it was the result of the conception & direction of Dr. Vijayalakshmi Balekundri. This DVD created & distributed by Lahari Music, will be released on Akshaya Truthiya, Basava Jayanthi day (April 24th 2012) at Basavana Baagewadi (birth place of Basavanna) along with the booklet of these Vachanas.
