We could see the Statue of Liberty off in the distance and it seemed to be a fairly popular ferry. Following that we headed off to the Financial District. Wall St was pretty much dead given it was a Sunday. You can no longer go into the New York Stock Exchange so it wouldn't have been much better had we been there on a weekday. Still, there were plenty of tourists walking around almost expecting something to happen, which it didn't and doesn't. People have this false idea that Banking and the Markets are actually interesting, but the truth is they are about as exciting as paint peeling off the wall. We then moved off to the old World Trade Centre where very little progress has been made since 9/11. There are construction units etc there, but it seems they are waiting for the go ahead to build something. Why can't they make a decision here? We started following some guided tours around even though we hadn't begun with them and got some interesting information about those who had been killed and various plans for the future (none of which seem to have got anywhere). Up next was some shopping for all sorts of things at Century 21. I got a big warm jacket for winter which I haven't bought for many years ...
